The company began in 2018 with the purchase and repositioning of a hotel in St. John’s, Newfoundland which is now the embodiment of Opal Hospitality as a DoubleTree by Hilton. As preferred managers for Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott hotels, we bring a world-class approach to every tailored project. Recognized for our work, Opal Hospitality was awarded the Hilton New Developer of the Year Canada award in 2020 & the Pinnacle Regional Company of the year by Hotelier Magazine in 2024.
As hospitality asset owners, developers, and managers, Opal Hospitality strives to capture the surrounding community when producing engaging lifestyle brands and spaces. Perry Vashee
President
Perry founded Opal Hospitality in 2018 when presented with the opportunity to fully reimagine a Harbourview hotel in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and has since built a true lifestyle hospitality company. His diverse experience and successes provide the foundation on which the company operates.
Peggy Corbiell, CMP
VP, Commercial Services
Peggy joined the Opal Team as Corporate Director of Sales & Marketing in January 2023. She oversees the sales strategies of the hotels within our portfolio, working with a variety of brands including Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, IHG, Best Western and Choice.
Nour Al-Dajani
Director, Strategic Initiatives and Brand Development
Nour Al-Dajani joined Opal Hospitality in August 2023 as Office Manager and has since taken on a broad range of responsibilities that support both the corporate team and the hotels. She manages day-to-day operations at the office, ensuring administrative, financial, and legal processes are carried out efficiently.
Sabarina Bhinder
Director of Operations and Financial Performance
Sabarina Bhinder is passionate about hospitality and has an educational background in Accounting. Her journey began at The Insignia Hotel, Sarnia, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, during the challenging times of 2020 when all managers had been laid off due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Krupa Desai
Operations & Strategy
Krupa Desai joined Opal in January 2025 in an Operations and Strategy role, focusing on boutique hotels and start-up project management. She also provides guidance and support on Human Resources matters across the portfolio, drawing on her extensive leadership experience.
Chris Austin
Director of Operations
Chris Austin joined Opal Hospitality as Director of Operations in May 2025, bringing with him two decades of hands-on leadership experience in the hotel industry. Throughout his career, Chris has held General Manager and above-property leadership roles, working with Best Western, Wyndham, Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton hotels.
Priya Khullar-Supaul
Commercial Services Manager
Priya Khullar-Supaul joined Opal Hospitality as Commercial Services Manager in July 2025, bringing over 15 years of proven sales leadership experience within the hospitality industry. Throughout her career, Priya has held key sales roles with globally recognized brands including Hilton, Marriott, and Woodbine Entertainment Group, specializing in both transient and group business across a wide range of market segments.
